“This is a good school for students who need extra attention. If the student is having any problems, the teachers will get strait to the case. The is a closer net of communication in this school, and compared to the rest of the public schools in the area ODLH is a great school that gives much attebtion and care to the students. Though, for the students that are 'advanced/gifted' it may not be the school for them. The classes aren't as challenging, as I have experienced, and being in a class with students of different levels, the gifted student may fall behind or become bored. There are AP classes, but not many to satisfy the need for the gifted students; nor are there Honors classes. But overall, this school is a pretty great one!”

“The teachers are cool but the principal gives students a slap on the wrist when they misbehave. We don't have school spirit, or choices to take another language than spanish. My other school was better.”

“This school is really great. I am happy i am attending this school. It has many clubs to join and wonderful teachers who take their time after school to help. It offers several AP classes and sports. It also prepares you for college thanks to College Readiness class. I really recommend this school.”

“I have a child who is attending his last year at ODLH Animo Charter High. As a parent I have had the best experience, the administration and staff with the parents and students work together as a family. The staff is incredible, I e-mail the teachers and they respond immedietly. The guidance and education the students are given are remarkable. Our community's dream for our childrens future to get to college are becoming realities. The smaller classroom ratio - teacher to student makes it easier for the staff to build a relationship with the students. We need more schools like this one.”

“De La Hoya Animo High School provides an excellent education for students who would typically get lost in an average LAUSD high school. The extracurricular activities are less robust than other high schools, but the safety, teacher relationships and overall education are far superior.”

“This school tries to drown about all individuality in students, and is incapable of keeping promises to the students and parents. Rules are constantly changed without any prior notice to students, so we get in trouble for anything. A rip in your pants or an untucked shirt can earn you a referral or suspension. The teachers and class size is great, but the school is not safe.”

“Excellent academics and discipline. Eccellent administration and faculty. High level of parent envolvement. Needs to locate perminate school site in order to set foundation for music, art, athletics and extracurricular activities.”
