Milken Community High School Reviews

my kid went to horace mann said he had problems making friends plus got held back. he was not so good in hebrew and had b's and c's. we tried milken they said if your child is not getting a's and b's you get your money back! so my child went and got the a's i wanted him to have. also he got better in hebrew after 2 years and could read perfectly.it is also good if your kid has some special education requirements because they will do whatever type of room you need for tests.

Milken is a great school that provides you with much foundation for the world ahead.

Our son came from a public school. The difference is day and night. The academic expectation is far higher and the bar for academic excellence is raised. The attitude is different. At the current school there is a can do attitude with each student given every opportunity to rise to not only academic excellence but also social and moral awareness. As parents we were big believers in public education. Our son is in 12th grade and has grown into a well balanced, focused individual who loves hislearning environment. His high school experience has been a marvellous journey.

I am a former student of Milken HS. Currently, I am attending the University of Chicago as a Classics/Medieval Lit. Major. Milken not only provided me with a solid foundation in the humanities (numerous AP and honors courses exist), but in Math and Science as well. There are few schools I can imagine that so thoroughly combine Jewish tradition with a thoroughly modern education, both provided in 'state of the art' facilities. My classes in Milken compared favorably to those I am taking as a first year at UofC, which is quite a feat.

Milken Community High School is one of the best out there. Some may say that the students there are too sheltered and do not have the ability to interact with individuals of different races and ethnic backgrounds, however I tend to disagree, due to the fact that most of the students there do indeed have numerous friends and acquaintances. I also disagree to the previous comment made where it was said that because Milken students are so 'sheltered', they are not given the chance to experience drugs. Speaking from experience, Milken students know very well indeed about the drugs that are in our world today, and have definitely had the experience with those drugs. Milken students are no different from those in public high schools.

Although the school may come off as really difficult and jewish, it really isnt all about that. the student there at MCHS tryto reach out to one another and aside form the Jewish aspect of the school, its pretty normal. The teachers at some point can come off as degrading or rude, but in the end they are either preaching a point or just trying to make u look stupid. Either way you learn a valuable lesson. I would have to say that one of the biggest down sides about attending a private Jewish prep school, is that you are very sheltered. there are no gangs, no drugs, no violence. you are in such a safe enviornment that sometime you feel too safe. Overall, even though most student at MCHS wish they were somewhere else, when you get down to the foundation of their reasons they realize that Milken really is one of the best schools out there. Even though I may not enjoy it all that much, i cant help but love the school for teaching me all that it has and allowing me to study my religion freely.
