Fremont Elementary School Reviews

Best elementary school in LBC. Extremely proactive and friendly PTA; huge community involvement.

I am a retired teacher without a child at the school and I volunteer regularly. Fremont's teachers are nurturing while still making sure academic standards are met. The school friendliness is a great asset, as is the diversity of the population. Parents work hard to raise money for extra programs and there seems to be no 'class distinctions' --just 'how can we help all our kids.' I would be happy to have to child at Fremont.

My Son has been at Fremont since K. He is in 5th this Year. WoooHooo to all of the Oompa Loompas and all of the Cast Great Job to all. Wow! What a school. To all The Students, Parents and all that work there. Ya'll are AWESOME. One Big Family. The past Years have been INCREDIBLE! Even when I couldn't be there ya'll stepped to the plate along with my son's Grandmother and Aunt to help my Son be all that he can be and then some. Thank You So much From the Bottom of My Heart. Thank You. Awesome, Great, Wonderful School By Far. :0)

My child has been at Fremont for 3 years and we couldn't be happier. The Drama program has been an incredible experience! If you value a relaxed, small school experience then this is the place for you.

We have been extremely pleased with Fremont. Every teacher my children have had have been excellent. One of my children currently has Mrs. Dameshek and she is extremely calm and patient. She is able to help each child reach their own level of excellence. The principal seems to me very interested in what is best for the students. Every staff member is caring and interested in the kids. Love Mr.Gallandt, the music teacher!

Excellent school. We love everything about it!

Excellent teachers and staff. My Daughter has been at Fremont for two years now. She is in the second grade and she loves her school. We love Fremont.

My son went here for 2nd grade and it was wonderful. We're moving and I'm sad that he won't be returning. All the staff was great. He learned so much from Ms. Teague.

This is a great school. My child loves The Drama Class.

I love this school, the teachers, the staff, kids club ...it really is a great school. It is a family. older kids look after the little ones. I only wish that they had a dual immersion program. My daughter is in first grade and is surrounded by great children. Really you cannot go wrong with this school.

This school is a gem. My daughter is finishing up kindergarten tomorrow. If her teacher, Mrs. Driskill is any indication of the quality of teachers here, she'd in for another fantastic 5 years of excellent and fun education. There is so much parent involvement, it is like a little private school. Definitely low on the attitude scale which is nice. The focus of parents, teachers and principal is the kids! If you choose this school, would recommend getting involved in the PTA if you really want to stay informed. My daughter can't wait for first grade and more learning adventures!

We've been at Fremont for 2 years now and can compare to previous big city publicschool. We feel very fortunate, as our daughter is embraced by the staff here and the pressure is not as intense as some public schools. The science lab is great and it is not a snobby school, parents are very involved not only in the school but with their kids!

This is our first year at Fremont and we are absolutely thrilled with it! Huge parent involvement, great teachers, basically an overall terrific school so far!

My son was placed in a 'combo' kinder/1st grade class ( 10 kinder and 10 1st graders) this year. I did not understand the concept of having first graders in the same class with kindergartners- how is this beneficial to a first grader? The teacher had no evidence, facts or data to support the effectiveness of this model. If this is a good idea, why are the other first grade classes not formatted in the same way? Why did 20% of the combo first graders last year fail to meet the requirements for second grade and had to attend summer remediation? The principal had no facts, data or evidence and in fact, stated he was not required to under the California Education system. He stated this has been done for years, primarily due to numbers. No wonder California schools are among the worst in the country.

My daughter has just completed her first year at Fremont and I am very impressed with the schools' dedication to the students. This also includes the parents involvement with the school - it's stellar. I can't wait to see how my daughter continues to thrive there -- also, next year her brother will be joining her (he'll be in kindergarten) .. I am very pleased with this school : )

Budget cuts are hurting even the best schools in Long Beach. Unfortunately, public school is no longer worth the effort, when you are constantly having to beg, borrow and plead for the programs to exist. I can forsee private schools having a waiting list a mile long within the next few years. Fremont and other public schools are just not worth the effort when private has so much to offer. All schools need PE, Art, Music, Science, Computer,Spanish a functioning Library and a Nurse. How can we ever maintain a higher level of education, when the public schools have nothing to offer?Bless the parents and students that put up with the nonsense!

This is a great school. High expectations and lots of parent involvement. School has Meet the Masters art program, Science Lab, Drama program, and Technology Lab.

This is a great small school. Kids are appropriately challenged and disciplined. Their is quite a bit of parent involvement and community involvement with surrounding businesses supporting the school. The ability to have orchestra at this level was great, and the school is very creative at finding ways around budget cuts.

Great school and great teachers!

After going to another district I missed this school, they were willing to help in almost any area they could, I really got to like the principal though it was a rough few years. They have a real family feel. I like the fact that if your child is struggling in an area they get them the help they need asap.

Fremont is a wonderful little school with a family-like atmosphere. This is one of the smaller public schools in Long Beach and is a breath of fresh air among the many over-crowded schools.

We have been extremely pleased with this school. Wonderful principal, teachers and great parent involvement. Our daughter is getting a fantastic education here. The school has high academic standards but also allows children to have creative outlets such as the 'Sussical' play the entire school performed in.

Fremont is like having a private school education at a public school price- very dedicated parents, strong academics and good extracurricular activities. The GATE program is excellent, but personally I feel that the school is too small to have one.

This is a small school with a lot of parent involvement. The curriculum is very traditional, in line with most of the Long Beach schools. The teachers are extremely dedicated and caring; there is a heavy emphasis on academics and testing. There are a number of extracurricular activities, including chess club, Spanish, and drama. It's a tight knit community.

My dauthers have been going to Fremont since 1st grade. We are very pleased with most of the teachers they've had. I especially think 3rd grade is special. There is an excellent 3rd grade class but Huber and Phelps are just as terrific, these two teach beyond the curriculum. This school has a mix of students of different backgrounds but I found the blend to be just right. Not a 'rough kids' atmosphere and not exclusive 'nose-up-in-the-air' parents like the school next door, Lowell. My son went to Lowell for 3 years and yes, the teachers were fantastic; high stadards and all --but PTA moms, wow... Fremont's PTA is a great blend. Very involved parents. I was proud to be a Fremont Mom.

Fantastic school! It is a small school, with a real family like atmosphere. The teachers are great. Not only is it good academically, but it offers so many extra opportunities. Some of ours have included the science lab, computer lab, meet the masters art program and drama. All of this is free to every student. You couldn't ask for a better all around school.

I truly hope that our new principal takes into consideration our children's welfare over playing favorites with certain employees. Not to mention, not allowing certain employees to yell at our children. For the most part I love Fremont and the teachers.
