Rogers Middle School Reviews

Middle School can be scary as a parent. But at Rogers the safety and well-being of every child is top priority. Teachers greet students with a smile, and the students respond instantly. I have wandered the halls frequently this past year and find the teaching to be engaging and challenging. (And I wonder how these other parents know about the teachers, because I am there a lot and don't see many parents!) Fantastic administration, great teachers, and an atmosphere for learning that is both comfortable and inviting, even to the most apathetic teen.

we are just entering 6th grade this fall at Rogers and so far they seem very well organized and sensitive to both parents and kids concerns. I am concerned about lunch service, as I hear it is slow/overcrowded, but looking forward to longer classes in the block schedule and the music program that has such a fantastic reputation and many happy kid-graduates to promote it.

this is the best school in the world! it is better than stanford! it has the best teachers in the world, who are educated and super duper nice!! there is nothing more that to say i am left speechless!

I love this school and im am an 8th grader here everyone is so involved no bullies and the top school in long beach which is a blue ribbon distinguished scholar school it is the best you really learn a lot and it looks good for high school

My children have been well prepared here for the Distinguished scholars program and have had a terrific experience academically and in the music program. Thanks to a great staff who care about their students.

My son went to Roger last year; he enjoyed every bits of his time at the school including all very helpful teachers and staffs. I had to move to Bakersfield, California because of the job. But you know my son and I missed the school a lot.........I want to encourage all parents to bring their kids to Rogers; you will not be disappointed.

I love rogers it is the best school I recomend it to every child

Im a 7th grader and this year is supposed to be the bigget year for us 7th graders. I am now in the avid program and it is really helping me so much. At sometimes it is really boring!! i just wish our teacher couuld make it more fun. But i do like going on the field trips, our last field trip was to knotts berry farm it was bomb!!!!!!!!

I have become disappointed in the lack of experience and/or interest of some of the teachers. I have observed a lack of respect in manner os speech coming from some of these teachers towards the students, as well as some of the high leveled staff members. They seem to miss the teaching opportunities for these kids, which puts aside their promise to the parents to instill success. Success starts with positive well-being. Orchestra has been the best learning environment for them so far.

Rogers size and diversity is very nice but I was very disappointed with many of teachers. Aside from one very good English teacher, I thought most teachers' instruction was too easy and/or they seemed 'burned out' and uninterested the in subject matter. The orchestra teacher is absolutely wonderful and is an enormous asset to the school.

The quality of instruction is also a huge concern for me and my spouse as well. Some of the teaching staff seem ill prepared or lacking experience, hence the quality of education suffers. Also found the teaching methods for sex education to be inappropriate and not on point. Generally concerned with the lack of preparation my child is receiving for Wilson. Orchestra teacher is an enormous benefit to the school as is the instruction from the Phys. Ed. department (oddly).

Rogers has its size (smallest middle school) going for it. 2005-2006 finally added a GATE program- history seems especially good. Overall the school is doing well with safety and discipline. I do question if the quality of instruction is really preparing them for the rigours of the Distinguished Program at Wilson. Their rocation wheel greatly limited science exposure which will cause a challenge in High school. Also no foreign language program is a real deficiet. New principal this year has not yet made any postive or negatitive changes and its the second new counselor in so many years. Quality of teachers and frequent subs is an ongoing problem.

This school is considered one of the best Middle Schools in Long Beach, and rightly so. Staff are very dedicated and capable, the school atmosphere is safe, and discipline is a top priority of the administration. Students have a number of extracurricular activities available, including a great Music program, after-school theater, and sports. Parents at this school are very involved in their children's education.

I am proud to say that I just graduated from Rogers Middle School. It was a great experience to learn and grow with one another (students and teachers). For three years I've seen my fellow classmates and teachers learn and help one another. The teachers really do care about the students. They put fourth an effort that truely shows. We were very focoused on academics, but we were just as strong in sports. I was in the Scholorship program for three straight years and I would like to thank the teachers for challenging me. I also had the pribilege to be Fall Student Body President it was truely an honor. Honestly, Rogers wasn't my choice to attend but, now when I think about how much I've learned and developed into the young lady I am today I dont regret it.
