Montage Beverly Hills: For a Complete Retreat
The Montage Beverly Hills, which opened in 2008, is one of those addresses that raises eyebrows and inevitably causes heads to move closer while drawing inquiries about the exclusive venue. The Montage Beverly Hills hotel is quietly classy, a place you know you’ve passed, know you heard about but are not sure what it was.
The stately sprawl on N. Canon Drive has put its imprint on the affluent city with an expansive villa-like look that includes columns, tiered terraces and rooftops and an open, lumbering garden of green and fountains connecting Canon and Beverly Drive.
So it is not surprising to find a wowing, yet sedate spa at Montage Beverly Hills. One that invites you to stay awhile, rather than line up, load in and leave.
Spa Montage spreads over two floors, the most impressive of which is the lower level that contains the mineral pool. It is literally a large Romanesque bath of private corners and Jacuzzi water jets in warm water that is completely saturated with healthy and invigorating minerals. A soak in this pool before any treatment guarantees immediate relaxation, a perfect prelude to a Fruits of the Orchard massage or Renew facial.
The theme of the spa is 9th century Andalusia, anchored by the indoor co-ed mineral pool and the spacious co-ed relaxation area that surrounds it with quiet, intimate cubbies. A two-story mosaic-tiled wall opening onto the pool is bathed in sunlight that filters through skylights.
Most treatments start at $205 for 60 minutes. For a pampered afternoon, make it the Day of Indulgence package, which offers the most value for the time and expense. The package starts at $200 and includes a 60-minute massage or facial of choice, a poolside lunch at The Conservatory Grill, a personalized fitness class in the private movement studio, access to the hotel’s swank rooftop pool with panoramic views, and full-day access to Spa Montage facilities.
If there are children that need to be distracted while the pampering sessions ensue, the Montage offers the Paintbox children’s program that incorporates indoor and outdoor activities.
Daily themed events, which include such activities as learning to cook like a chef or making art from recycled clutter run half days and full days with lunch for rates starting at $60 per child.
A one-night Spa Escape package includes in-room continental breakfast for two and 60-minute spa treatments for two at Spa Montage starting at $775.
HelloMetro Tip: Duck in on a cold winter’s afternoon for a perfect respite in the Lobby Lounge. Tea is served from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Expert tea specialists present artisan tea varieties in custom china and hand-painted porcelain while a harpist plays on.
